Purposeful Empathy and its role in change.

If you are reading this, it is most likely that you are human being. We humans are social creatures. If you are unsure this is true, you can tell by looking at a map as seeing how we all like to live together in cities and towns, go out to clubs and restaurants and generally gather whenever we get the chance.

I have written a lot on the subject of interdependence and the need for us to move beyond individualism. Within the agile world of organisational change and leadership development, the most important shift we can make is the move from I to the WE. It is a shift in identity that allows us to optimise our organisations, our communities, and society.

We don’t just need an explosion of empathic action to avert catastrophe, we need it to flourish as human beings. – Anita Nowak

On all AWA courses and programs, we use self-development first to make the change we want to see in the outside world. The big change we can all make and have access to is Purposeful Empathy.

Empathy is the link that allows us to cross the boundaries of independence to interdependence.

As you probably know, AWA is a community of practice as well as a training company. We look for the world’s thought leaders that will make a difference to our work as change agents and bring them to the Agile and Coaching communities.

I am very pleased to announce that we will be hosting Anita Nowak on the 25th February at 4pm GMT. Anita is the world’s foremost expert on Empathy and has spent the last decade studying and promoting Purposeful Empathy as a way to make huge social change.
